KCAS is looking for an Analyst I, Small Molecule

KCAS Bioanalytical & Biomarker Services is seeking an individual interested in bioanalysis to work as an Analyst I within its GLP bioanalytical laboratory in Shawnee, Kansas.  KCAS is a contract research organization (CRO) providing bioanalytical & biomarker services to pharmaceutical clients in support of drug developments, preclinical and clinical studies.

Critical Functions 

Depending on the applicant’s qualifications and previous experience responsibilities may include the following critical functions:

  • Prepare and label laboratory solutions (eg. extraction reagents, mobile phase) as neede
  • Perform and/or verify calculations related to reagent preparation.
  • Prepare and/or extract samples for analysis on instruments such as LC-MS/MS according to written test procedures.
  • Conduct sample inventory.
  • Verify sample identities in extraction rack versus batch sheet.
  • Promptly record lab raw data ensuring completeness/accuracy and submit for review/approval, including documentation of any deviations that occur.
  • Carry out lab activities and documentation as required per GLP, SOPs and company quality standard
  • Perform assigned tasks carefully and on schedule according to standard operating procedure and supervisor instruction. 
  • Review information for accuracy and submit to appropriate personnel for peer check
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment free from safety hazards
  • Performs general lab duties Takes out the trash/dump expired solutions, cleans water baths, etc.


Education Requirements

  • High school education at a minimum.  Scientific coursework is preferred.

Job Requirements

The position requires excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and semi-independently to meet project timelines.

  • 2 years’ experience working in an unrelated field. Preference is given to those who have experience in a lab environment.
  • Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Should have familiarity with Microsoft Word® and Excel® programs including the ability to adjust easily to learning new software programs.
  • Maintain a productive work ethic.
  • Work overtime as needed; be punctual with low absenteeism.
