KCAS is looking for a Director, Business Development

KCAS Bioanalytical & Biomarker Services is seeking a Director, Business Development. This position has overall leadership responsibility for client services, including Business Development and Marketing to customers for KCAS.  This person possesses a high level of market awareness in the areas of Bioanalytical Sciences, Early Development and Clinical Pharmacology, and will build a robust business pipeline through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new customers.

The individual provides leadership and coordination of company sales and marketing functions, develops and implements the sales and marketing strategy, and monitor and analyze sales and marketing activity against goals.

Critical Functions 

Typical responsibilities of the Director, Business Development are listed.  The incumbent may not carry out all duties in this list.

  • Develops, or participates with the management team in the development of, the Strategic Marketing Plan.
  • Create and manage sales and marketing budgets, arrange conference exhibiting, facilitate marketing campaigns and initiatives (e.g., email blasts, website, hosted customer events, and print material)
  • Supervise the planning and development of company marketing and communications materials.
  • Research and develop strategies that identify marketing opportunities and new initiatives by providing relevant data, competitive intelligence, information, and/or support materials.
  • Identifies, contributes and provides strategic information to support Business Development’s annual plans and growth strategy, establishing short- and long-range goals and objectives.
  • Drive the business development process, from the identification of initial opportunities, through the development of specific proposals, to delivery of a signed contract; utilizing appropriate internal resources (e.g. Management, Project Leaders).
  • Develop and extend relationships with existing customers to secure repeat business.
  • Develop relationships with new customers within a decided territory.
  • Represent the company at professional meetings and trade shows.


Education Requirements

Bachelors Degree with minimum 10 years of related industry experience in a CRO environment, and 5+ years in Phase I or Bioanalytical Services sales with a good understanding of Bioanalytical services.  A coherent understanding of the workings of the drug development process.

Other education with sufficient related experience at the discretion of management.


  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations. Experience in planning marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful public relations efforts.
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to interact at a hierarchy of levels within the customer organization.
  • Successful track record of developing business within a CRO.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
