KCAS is looking for a Systems Engineer, Information Technology

KCAS Bioanalytical & Biomarker Services is seeking a Systems Engineer to be responsible for supporting the hardware and software information technology infrastructure. The Systems Engineer will implement enterprise-wide information systems under the Director of Information Technology. Enterprise systems include laboratory systems, administrative systems, and infrastructure systems. KCAS is a contract research organization (CRO) providing bioanalytical & biomarker services to pharmaceutical clients in support of drug developments, preclinical and clinical studies.

Critical Functions 

Depending on the applicant’s qualifications and previous experience responsibilities may include the following functions:

  • Configure and manage virtualization platform including cluster management
  • Configure and manage user/group/OUs/policies/scripting
  • Design, build server hardware/software
  • Configure and manage print queue infrastructure
  • Configure/perform company backup and recovery
  • Configuring, optimizing, fine-tuning and monitoring operating system software and servers
  • Configure and manage SAN storage and connectivity
  • Design and manage file server permissions structure
  • Design, configure, manage disaster recovery plans
  • Configure and manage DHCP
  • Configure and manage DNS
  • Configure and managed company firewall
  • Configure and managed VPN services
  • Configure and manage wireless connectivity
  • Configure and manage network switching
  • Support complex projects as assigned by the Director
  • Support technical issues related to business and laboratory systems
  • Ensure all IT infrastructure systems are compliant with SOP and corporate policies
  • Document all infrastructure components and actively contribute to the knowledge base
  • Work with contractors and other IT staff to ensure adequate support coverage
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving system hardware, software and networking issues
  • Performing high-level root cause analysis for service interruption recovery and creating preventive measures
  • Configuring, debugging and supporting multiple infrastructure platforms
  • Performing installation, maintenance and support of system software/hardware and user support


Education Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with increasing responsibilities for management and support of information systems and technology.
  • Experience supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems in a CRO environment is a plus.
  • Must have in-depth technical knowledge of software, hardware, and networking. Must possess advanced analytical, troubleshooting, and design skills. Must possess the ability to communicate with technical and nontechnical users.

Ideal candidates will also have

  • Knowledge of desktop, notebook, and handheld devices and various office productivity software programs such as word processing, databases, spreadsheet programs, and communications software.
  • General knowledge of business processes and their interrelationship

Experience Requirements

Comprehensive knowledge of

  • Business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and management to include an in-depth understanding of key business issues. These include, but are not limited to, knowledge of strategic and operational planning, business economics, personnel administration, technology trends, marketing, financial and cost analysis.
  • Data processing methods and procedures, and computer software systems.
  • Systems design and development processes, including requirements analysis, feasibility studies, software design, programming, pilot testing, installation, evaluation and operational management.
