KCAS is looking for an Senior Scientist, Small Molecule

KCAS Bioanalytical & Biomarker Services is seeking a Senior Scientist to join its GLP bioanalytical laboratory in Shawnee, Kansas. KCAS is a contract research organization (CRO) providing bioanalytical & biomarker services to pharmaceutical clients in support of drug developments, preclinical and clinical studies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing bioanalytical methods for quantitation of drug and metabolites in various biological matrices using LC-MS/MS and related sample cleanup techniques. The bioanalytical methods will be validated to support preclinical and clinical studies under GLP and GCP regulations.

Critical Functions 

Depending on the applicant’s qualifications and previous experience responsibilities may include the following critical functions:
  • Correspond with clients to understand and support their bioanalytical needs
  • Support Business Development team to secure new bioanalytical projects
  • Develop LC-MS/MS-based bioanalytical methods
  • Transfer the methods to method validation teams and mentor junior scientists
  • Take a  leadership role and support the operations team in troubleshooting instrument-, method-, and operation-related problems
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
  • Assist in preparation of technical documentation
  • Assist in the training and development of junior members of staff
  • Full compliance with company procedures and GLP/GCP regulations
  • Develop and validate laboratory procedures
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of related documents


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Pharmaceutical Science plus at least 10 years’ experience OR Ph.D degree plus five years’ experience in bioanalytical method development supporting drug development.

Job Requirements

The position requires excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and semi-independently to meet project timelines.

  • Working experience in a bioanalytical CRO and advanced skills using automation, conducting quality control and managing bioanalytical projects.
  • Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Should have familiarity with Microsoft Word® and Excel® programs including the ability to adjust easily to learning new software programs
  • Maintain a productive work ethic
  • Work overtime as needed; be punctual with low absenteeism.
